How Do You Become a Christian?
Becoming a Christian begins with putting your faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that everyone has sinned and needs God’s forgiveness. God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and rise again so that we could receive forgiveness and eternal life.
You don’t have to have a perfect past or get your entire life together before coming to Jesus. Christianity begins by recognizing your need for a Savior, turning toward God, and trusting Jesus Christ for salvation.
✝️ Admit That You Have Sinned
The Bible tells us that every person has fallen short of God’s standard.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Recognizing our sin helps us understand why we need God’s forgiveness.
❤️ Believe in Jesus Christ
Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that God raised Him from the dead.
One of the most familiar promises in Scripture says:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV)
God’s gift of salvation is offered because of His love for us.
🙏 Confess Your Faith in Jesus
Romans explains the response of faith this way:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” — Romans 10:9 (KJV)
You can talk to God sincerely in prayer, confess your sin, ask for forgiveness, and tell Him that you are placing your faith in Jesus Christ.
From there, the Christian life is a lifelong journey of following Jesus, reading God’s Word, praying, connecting with other believers, and growing in your relationship with God.
Jesus Changes Lives
No matter where you have been or what your story has been, the Gospel offers a message of forgiveness, hope, and new life through Jesus Christ.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” — Acts 16:31 (KJV)
